The Sustainable Green Campus Coordinatorship of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University was established in 2019 to develop and implement policies on key areas such as energy, waste, water, and transportation. The coordinatorship aims to reduce the campus’s carbon footprint, eliminate or mitigate elements that disrupt the ecological balance, and raise awareness about sustainability initiatives. To achieve these goals, it organizes training sessions, symposiums, workshops, and field trips, fostering a stronger connection with nature among both staff and students.
As a unit composed of academic and administrative staff in collaboration with student communities engaged in sustainability efforts, the coordinatorship oversees the implementation of technical and social activities aligned with strategic goals. It takes necessary measures, evaluates outcomes, and ensures coordination among university units to maintain progress and alignment with sustainability objectives.
Sustainability activities are managed through the Green Office, Energy, and Environment teams, which operate under the Sustainable Green Campus Coordinatorship. The Green Campus Website serves as a platform to share updates on ongoing and planned initiatives, while also collecting and incorporating opinions, suggestions, and contributions from the university community to foster active participation.
