As part of the sustainability project carried out by Muğla Science and Art Center (BİLSEM), a two-day event series was organized with the contributions of the Sustainable Green Campus Coordination Office of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University. The program turned into a productive learning experience where students interacted with nature and explored sustainable living practices.
🌿
Day 1: Seed Ball Workshop (March 10, 2026)
On the first day, a Seed Ball Workshop was conducted together with Muğla BİLSEM students. Led by Research Assistant Naz Fulya Çibik and facilitated by Lecturer Ayla Çetinkaya and Lecturer İlknur Alpak, the workshop began with a brief exploration and discussion on local seeds, ecological agriculture, and sustainability.
Following this introduction, students actively participated in the production process by preparing their own seed balls using seeds they had previously collected, with the aim of placing them in designated areas within their school garden.
During this process, students:
- Discovered the role of seeds in nature
- Gained awareness of ecosystems and biodiversity
- Experienced the value of collective production and contributing to nature
Centered around the idea that even a small seed can eventually grow into a large ecosystem, the activity helped students build a meaningful connection with nature.
💧
Day 2: Rainwater Harvesting Workshop (March 31, 2026)
On the second day, a Rainwater Harvesting Workshop was held, focusing on sustainable water use. The workshop was led by Lecturer Ayla Çetinkaya, with contributions from Research Assistant Naz Fulya Çibik and Lecturer İlknur Alpak as facilitators.
The event began with an informative presentation on rainwater harvesting and the sustainable use of water resources. This was followed by an interactive Q&A session where students discussed how these concepts relate to everyday life.
During the practical session, a model demonstrating rainwater harvesting was introduced. Students observed how water is collected and directed by spraying water onto a model house roof and explored its various potential uses through hands-on experience.
🌍 Small Steps Toward a Sustainable Future
This two-day program supported students not only in gaining knowledge but also in learning through direct experience, helping them develop active awareness of sustainability.
We are pleased to contribute to the sustainability project carried out by Muğla BİLSEM and would like to thank all participating students and the academic staff involved.
🌱 We believe that small steps can lead to meaningful transformations.
